South East Cambridgeshire Liberal Democrats have re-selected local councillor Jonathan Chatfield as their parliamentary candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Jonathan, who lives in Impington with his wife and son, has previously stood in 2005 and 2010 increasing the Liberal Democrat vote from 13,937 to 21,683 during that time.
A graduate of both the University of Bradford and Warwick Business School Jonathan has significant experience in the business world and intends to use this experience to help our area.
Speaking after the members meeting at which he was chosen Jonathan said:
“I’m delighted to have been re-selected as the Liberal Democrats parliamentary candidate for my local area.
“I think local people want a MP who will always put South East Cambridgeshire first. That’s why if elected my top priority will be to make our area a better place to live, work and bring up a family.
“For now, I am focused on working on the issues that matter to residents, like getting a fairer funding deal for local schools, growing our local economy and improving local public transport and roads.”
Local party chair and Waterbeach county councillor Maurice Leeke said:
“We’re thrilled to have re-selected Jonathan as our parliamentary candidate for the 2015 General Election.
“It’s great that we have selected a candidate that the whole local party can unite behind to ensure we have a MP who will always put our area first.
“Over the years Jonathan has shown himself to be a hardworking and effective community campaigner who has a real record of delivering for local people.
“With the election just 15 months away we are determined to do all we can to ensure he can build on his record and become our Member of Parliament.”
