In the last Parliament the Lib Dems blocked the Snoopers' Charter as it was an awful proposal that threatened our liberty and did not come close to achieving its aims.
Now the Home Secretary has brought forward a broadly similar Bill which has received universal condemnation from security and privacy experts. "As a security professional I find theis new Snoopers' Charter incredibly worrying", says the Lib Dem Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate, Rupert Moss-Eccardt. "It hoovers up huge amounts of personal data for no obvious benefit and with inadequate safeguards. It must be stopped". Labour MPs have generally failed to vote against the Bill for reasons that are hard to fathom.
